Tenascin C, A new Biomarker for Cardiovascular Research and Cancer
Tenascin C and Cardiovascular Diseases:
- Serum tenascin-C level is associated with coronary plaque rupture in patients with acute coronary syndrome.(Sakamoto N et al. Heart Vessels. 2014 Mar;29(2):165-70.)
- Tenascin C may enhance inflammatory responses by accelerating macrophage migration and synthesis of proinflammatory/profibrotic cytokines via integrin αVβ3/FAK-Src/NF-κB, resulting in increased fibrosis. (Shimojo N et al. Hypertension. 2015 Oct;66(4):757-66)
- Biomarkers of fibrogenesis, Tenascin C, MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were significantly elevated in patients suffering from Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) as compared to a control group. (Kukuk S, et al. Urologe A. 2015 Jan;54(1):52-61)
- Tenascin C induced synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-6, in dendritic cells via activation of a Toll-like receptor 4, which led to T-helper (Th)17 cell differentiation and exacerbated the myocardial inflammation. TN-C knockout mice were protected from severe myocarditis compared to wild-type mice.(Machino-Ohtsuka T et al. J Am Heart Assoc. 2014 Nov 5;3(6):e001052 )
- Serum tenascin-C: a novel biomarker for diagnosis and predicting prognosis of rheumatic carditis? (Karatas Z, et al. J Trop Pediatr. 2013 Dec;59(6):476-82.)
- Tenascin-C as predictor of left ventricular remodeling and mortality in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. (Sarli B1, et al. J Investig Med. 2013 Apr;61(4):728-32.)
- Higher serum tenascin-C levels reflect the severity of heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction and remodeling in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. (Terasaki F, et al. Circ J. 2007 Mar;71(3):327-30.)
Imanaka-Yoshida K Circ J. 2012;76(11):2513-20. Epub 2012 Oct 13
