Circulating CTRP9 levels are reduced in mouse models of obesity. A and B, plasma CTRP9 levels in diet-induced obese and db/db mice, respectively. Wild-type mice at 8 weeks of age were maintained on a high fat/high sucrose diet (HF/HSD) or a normal chow diet (ND) for 14 weeks (A). CTRP9 protein in plasma (2.0 μl) was analyzed by Western blotting. CTRP9 protein levels were quantified using ImageJ (mean ± S.E., n = 4). Plasma CTRP9 levels in control mice fed a normal chow diet and db/db mice at 8 weeks of age were determined by Western blot analysis and quantified using ImageJ (mean ± S.E., n = 3) (B). Plasma CTRP9 declines following cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. A, plasma CTRP9 levels after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) or sham surgery. Wild-type mice were subjected to 60 min of ischemia, followed by 24 h of reperfusion or sham operation. CTRP9 protein levels in plasma (2.0 μl) were determined by Western blot analysis using A00081-03-100. Relative protein levels of CTRP9 were quantified using ImageJ (mean ± S.E., n = 6).
